Abstract
The use of the poetic is examined with respect to the technical characteristics common to various forms of brief psychotherapy. In considering the compatibility of poetry and brief therapy, it is suggested that poetry can serve as a therapeutic agent in promoting client change. Implications for practice and directions for further research conclude the report.
