Abstract

The reduction of nitrogen oxide emissions which contribute significantly to photochemical smog and also to acid rain is one of the most challenging targets of today’s engine development. Several measures to reduce NOX emissions, such as NOX adsorbers and SCR catalysts, are currently under development.
