Intraoperative epidural steroid application at nerve decompression: a randomised, prospective study

Conclusion

No statistically significant difference was noted in either pain score, analgesic consumption at 12, 24, 48 or 72 hours or length of hospital stay between the steroid treatment and control groups. This suggests that local epidural steroid administration after nerve decompression offers no therapeutic advantage over mechanical decompression alone in alleviating early post-operative pain.
