The pair production cross section for high photon energies for the Thomas-Fermi and Hartree atom

Сечение рождения электронных пар для высоких фотонных энергий для атомов томаса-ферми и хартри

Abstract

In this paper using analytical representations of the Thomas-Fermi function ϕ(x) and the Hartree functionsZ ρ/Z we derive the total cross section formula for pair production in the field of an atom of atomic numberZ for high photon energies. Our numerical results for the total cross section for pair production as can be seen from Table I agree well with the exact numerical values ofBethe andFraser.

Резюме

В настоящей работе, пользуясь аналитическим представлением функций Томаса — Ферми ϕ(x) и ХартриZ ρ/Z, выведем формулу сечения рождения электронных пар, в поле атома с атомным номеромZ и для высоких фотонных энергий. Результирующие численные значения полного сечения — как показывают данные таблицы 1 — хорощо согласуются с точными значениями Бете-Фразера.
