Thermal instability in a viscoelastic fluid in hydromagnetics

  • Published:
Acta Physica Academiae Scientiarum Hungaricae

Abstract

The stability of a layer of Oldroyd fluid heated from below and subject to a magnetic field is considered. The magnetic field is found to have a stabilizing influence. The analytic conditions for nonexistence of overstability are investigated.
