Wereldwijd is er de meeste onderzoeksaandacht voor ouderen, dikke kinderen en hypertensie. Dit valt af te leiden uit gegevens naar het gebruik van de Cochrane Library in 2007. Mondiaal gezien eindigden reviews naar interventies voor valpreventie bij ouderen, preventie van obesitas bij kinderen en bètablokkers bij hypertensie op de eerste, tweede en derde plaats.
