De ziekte pokken leek voorgoed uitgeroeid, maar bij het ter perse gaan van dit nummer waren ook in Nederland de voorbereidingen voor een eventuele uitbraak in volle gang. Ruim 15 miljoen vaccins zijn ingekocht en VWS, RIVM en GGD’en hebben draaiboeken gemaakt. De huisarts is bij alle ongerustheid van patiënten een vraagbaak en heeft bij een uitbraak van pokken een aantal taken
