Ongeveer één op de drie Nederlanders sterft aan hart- en vaatziekten. Door vergrijzing van onze bevolking zal dit aantal nog verder gaan toenemen. Preventie van hart- en vaatziekten krijgt dan ook hoge prioriteit van overheid en hulpverleners. De Europese multidisciplinaire richtlijn voor preventie van hart- en vaatziekten is grotendeels gebaseerd op wetenschappelijk bewijs
