Vitamine D verlaagt mortaliteit bij chronisch nierfalen

Samenvatting

Bij patiënten met nierfalen ontwikkelt zich op den duur vaak hyperparathyreoïdie. Deze secundaire hyperparathyreoïdie (SHPT) wordt onder andere behandeld met vitamine D-analoga. Bij dialysepatiënten is aangetoond dat deze behandeling de mortaliteit verlaagt. De onderzoekers gingen na of nierpatiënten die nog niet met dialyse werden behandeld ook baat hadden bij deze therapie.
