De skiduim: een literatuuroverzicht

Samenvatting

Een skiduim wordt gedefinieerd als een acuut optredend letsel aan het ulnaire collaterale ligament van de metacarpofalangeale gewricht van de duim.

In dit literatuuroverzicht wordt ingegaan op de geschiedenis, ontstaanswijze, epidemiologie, anatomie, diagnose, chirurgische en conservatieve behandelvormen, revalidatie en de laatste technieken ter preventie van de skiduim.

Via dit overzicht wordt het belang benadrukt van een nauwkeurige diagnostiek van de skiduim, alsmede van een juiste verwijzing van derdegraads rupturen naar de chirurg. De noodzaak van wetenschappelijk onderzoek, door fysiotherapeuten, naar deze veel voorkomende vorm van weke-delenletsel wordt benadrukt.-
