Abstract
Low self-esteem is a frequently encountered problem in mental health, transcending several specific emotional disorders. Partly because it is not a specific diagnostic entity in the DSM classification system, few publications in cognitive behavioural therapy are concerned with low self-esteem. This article is about the first experiences in routine practice with a modular group treatment for patients with low self-esteem. Also, the results of a first study into the effectiveness of this treatment are described. In the short run, the modular group treatment seems to be an effective method for a wide range of patients that is rather easily implemented into routine practice.
