Samenvatting

Peptisch ulcuslijden is een veelvoorkomende aandoening, waarbij het ulcus (de zweer) zich in 80% van de gevallen in de twaalfvingerige darm bevindt (ulcus duodeni) en in 20% van de gevallen in de maag (ulcus ventriculi). Alhoewel strikt genomen onjuist, valt naast het ulcus ventriculi ook het ulcus duodeni onder het begrip ‘maagzweer’. Ongeveer 40.000 patiënten bezoeken jaarlijks hun huisarts wegens een maagzweer.
