Samenvatting

Milde colitis ulcerosa reageert meestal goed op het toedienen van mesalazine. Als er sprake is van matige of ernstige colitis ulcerosa, komt men met mesalazine meestal niet uit en zijn er glucocorticoïden nodig. Bij colitis ulcerosa zijn glucocorticoïden in het algemeen zeer effectief (60 ’ 90% remissie), veel effectiever dan bij de ziekte van Crohn.
