Summary

The scintillation combined with the cinescintigraphic system, which is computer compatible, permits numerous applications in functional and morphological diagnosis. Using this combined system blood flow studies were carried out showing the transit time of cardiac and vascular circulation. The kinetics of Pertechnetate in the thyroid was investigated and an useful method for screening thyroid function was developed. In more than 1,000 cases renal function studies were performed by drawing curves representing the kinetics of radiopharmaceutical in the whole organ as well as in circumscribed regions. With the aid of the computer different parameters were calculated. Functional studies of certain organs are improved by examining the altered kinetics of radiopharmaceuticals under the influence of drugs. Results of more than 100 examinations of salivary glands revealed that the accumulate Pertechnetate was almost completely discharged after application of Doryl®. The concentration of Pertechnetate in the gastric mucosa was considerably increased by administering Betazol and Pentagastrine, corresponding to a stimulation of gastric secretion. The kinetics of Rose bengal in the liver, the gall bladder, the blood and the intestinal tract were examined. In more than 30 patients the slope of the radioactivity was observed under the influence of a stimulating diet.
