Abstract

The Caloric test is a recognised modality of investigating the vestibular dysfunction. The various techniques are proposed for simplificatian of Bithermal alternate test. The Bithermal Dicthermal Simultaneous test appears more physiological than other tests because the stimuli simulates normal head rotation. It is more sensitive (70%) and specific (90%) than alternate test specially in the central vestibular disorders. The central disinhibition and compensation inherent in the recovery of vestibular lesion makes the alternate test of limited usefulness.
