It wasn’t so long ago that “honorable elders” were revered, if only for their rarity. Now, during recessions, redundant older workers are the first to be laid off.

He has written articles about the American labor movement, employment of older workers in Japan and America, and comparisons of the two nations’ personnel policies and practices.
