Abstract

Our concern is the problem of the continuous estimation of a signal S disturbed by an additive noise B when a reference noise, correlated with the disturbing noise, is available. To solve this problem, the reference noise is whitened then filtered to obtain an estimate of the disturbing noise. This is the classical correlofilter system. We modify this structure to obtain the local correlofilter, the impulse response of the filter is now given by the estimated intercorrelation between the observation S + B from which some estimated components of the disturbing noise are subtracted and the whitened reference noise. The theoretical studies of the both correlofilters and the comparison with the practice are shown. The local correlofilter is shown to be more efficient than the classical correlofilter. The both correlofilters are modified to operate in non-stationary environments. Simulations were made on real noises and confirm the benefit of the local correlofilter.
