Die Mosasaurier des Roemer-Museums in Hildesheim

Abstract

The Roemer-Museum in Hildesheim houses ample material of Late Cretaceous mosasaurs from North America. This article includes a brief description of the two most important specimens reidentified asPlatecarpus ictericus (Cope 1871) andTylosaurus proriger (Cope 1869). The original labels show that the material was collected by theSternbergs in the Upper Cretaceous of Kansas in 1904. It was sold to the Roemer-Museum in 1905.

Kurzfassung

Das Roemer-Museum beherbergt umfangreiches Material von nordamerikanischen Mosasauriden der Oberkreide. Es werden Kurzbeschreibungen und Neubestimmungen der zwei wichtigsten Stücke -Platecarpus ictericus (Cope 1871) undTylosaurus proriger (Cope 1869) - gegeben. Die Original-Etiketten belegen, daß das Material um 1904 von denSternbergs in der Oberkreide von Kansas gesammelt worden ist und ein Jahr später nach Hildesheim gelangte.
