Occurrence of the upper triassic bivalveMonotis in Iran

Abstract

Monotis (Monotis) haueri Kittl is described from the Nayband Formation of the western Lut area (Central Iran) indicating uppermost Norian. This is also the first established record for the species between its disjunct occurrences in Europe and North America.

Kurzfassung

Aus der Nayband Formation der westlichen Lut-Wiiste wirdMonotis (Monotis) haueri Kittl beschrieben, Leitfossil für das höhere Obernor. Dieses ist auch das erste sichere Vorkommen der Art zwischen Europa und Nordamerika.
