Note on a sex-linked down character in ducks

Summary

A cross between the Mallard and the Indian Runner duck has brought to light a sex-linked character affecting the colour of the down. The evidence available suggests that the structural differences in the two breeds depend upon several factors. The Mallard’s instincts towards flight and towards broodiness are dominant in theF 1 birds.
