A scanning electron microscopy study of normal colonic mucosa, adenomas and metaplastic polyps

Summary

The authors studied in scanning electron microscopy 9 normal colonic mucosa samples, 25 adenomas, 10 metaplastic polyps and specimens of the adjacent mucosa. The stereomorphological data substantiate the histogenetic hypotheses which oppose adenomas to metaplastic polyps.
