Effects of magnesium deficiency on restoration of potassium and sodium levels in potassium-depleted muscle

Rat skeletal muscle depleted of potassium has a slower rate of restoration when extracellular magnesium is reduced. Concomitant magnesium deficiency may retard restoration of potassium in depleted patients if the magnesium deficiency is not simultaneously corrected.
