Summary
It is shown that a probability amplitude for a quantum chain on nonrelativistic stochastic phase space can be introduced which is formally analogous to a conditional Wiener measure. The quantum propagator is expressed as a path integral with respect to this amplitude, the integrand being an action functional over paths in stochastic phase space. On a formal level this result resembles its conventional counterpart over configuration space, but many difficulties with the convergence of Feynman path integrals are avoided in this approach. The entire formalism as well as the theory of measurement behind it are extrapolated to a recently proposed self-consistent dynamics of extended relativistic particles moving in external electromangetic fields. This elucidates the role of time-ordered reference hypersurfaces in that relativistic quantum theory and yields a nonperturbational proof that its propagator is relativistically covariant.
