Summary
We consider a picture of the annihilation in which the intermediate virtual photon decays into two virtual pions, which in turn give rise to two jets of physical pions. We construct an explicit model for the mechanism of particle production in the jet, and we obtain predictions for the total cross-section of the annihilation into pions, for the partial cross-sections in the various configurations of charge and for the multiplicity.
