Investigation of enteric infections in the caribbean area

I. A survey of intestinal parasitism in Lombardia, Michoacan, Mexico

Summary

A parasitological survey was carried out in the town of Lombardia, Michoacan, Mexico. The data show that the overall incidence of intestinal parasitism among the 338 individuals studied is 81.1 per cent. The only parasites of importance in Lombardia appear to beEndamoeba histolytica, Ascaris lunibricoides andHymenolepis nana, whose incidences were 45.9, 27.2 and 7.4 per cent, respectively. The incidence of these and other parasites are listed with a breakdown of their distribution among the population sample.
