Summary
Early scab resistant diploid derivatives ofS. chacoense have been obtained from crosses of that species withS. phureja. Although high in solanine content the selections otherwise resembled early forms ofS. phureja. The inheritance of resistance is apparently complex. Tetraploid clones were produced by colchicine treatment, as a preliminary step to transferring this source of resistance toS. tuberosum.
