An educational computer-based multimedia system for enhancing crop yield through improved potato planting

Abstract

A multimedia software package was developed to present appropriate potato planting techniques necessary to increase crop yields. Resource material used included research and extension articles, video and photographs. Topics discussed are seed storage, seed cutting, planter management, plant spacing, and plant development. The intended audience for the software package includes extension staff and potato growers. The authoring software used for the development of the program was Toolbox, supported by several other software programs. The presentation runs on an IBM compatible 486 PC under MS-Windows.

Resumen

Un paquete de software multimedia fue desarrollado para presentar las técnicas de siembra de papa apropiadas para incrementar el rendimiento del cultivo. Los recursos materiales usados incluyeron artículos, sobre investigatión y extensión, videos y fotografías. Los temas que se discuten son el almacenamiento de la semilla, cortes de la semilla, manejo de la sembradora, espacio entre plantas y desarrollo de las plantas. La audiencia para la cual está dirigido el software incluye personal de extensión y cultivadores de papa. El software usado para el desarrollo del programa fue Toolbox, con el apoyo de varios otros programas de software. La presentación funciona en una computadora 486 compatible con IBM baio Microsoft Windows.
