Interrelation between fabrication processes and mechanical properties of AF 22 duplex steel tubes

Abstract

The development of AF 22 duplex steel tubes used under severe multiple corrosion conditions in oil and gas wells was examined. The conditions of hot- and cold-forming processes and their influence on the mechanical properties of tubes are summarized on the basis of both laboratory experiments and practical experiences obtained with tube fabrication. The effect of precipitation on the mechnical properties of hot-finished tubes is shown, and steps are discussed to avoid this precipitation. The anisotropic behavior of mechanical properties and the formation of residual stresses of AF 22 tubes, as well as the influence of heat treatment on these properties, are discussed in detail.
