The electron-neutrino angular correlation in β-decay of91Y

Summary

The ratio of transition probabilities corresponding to forward and backward correlation in the unique first forbidden β-decay of91Y has been experimentally determined from measurements of the distribution of β-energy and recoil time of flight. It may be deduced that the interaction which controls the main β-decay is predominantly of the axial vector type.

Si descrive un’esperienza diretta ad individuare la forma specifica dell’interazione che regola il decadimento β del91Y, il cui spettro è «unico primo proibito». I risultati, ottenuti mediante misure di correlazione angolare «elettrone-neutrino», indicano che l’interazione predominante è del tipo «vettore assiale».
