Summary

The use of Trasylol in experimental pancreatitis in the dog and in acute pancreatitis in clinical cases, led to the following results:

  1. 1)

Use of Trasylol from the early period in experimental pancreatitis, which was induced by olive-oil infusion into the pacreatic duct of the dog was, whether the dose was low, effective in comparison with the control. The results of treatment were evidently much better in high-dose group than in low-dose group.

  2. 2)

Twenty-five cases of acute pancreatitis subjected to the daily treatment with 10,000 to 50,000 K. I. U. of Trasylol (low-dose group) in addition to the conventional treatment, showed evidently better results in most of the cases than the control group.

  3. 3)

Another 25 cases of acute pancreatitis were daily given 100,000 to 200,000 K. I.U. of Trasylol (high-dose group), in addition to the conventional treatment showed much better in further more cases than in the low-dose group.

  4. 4)

The early initiation of the Trasylol treatment in the course of the disease makes the result better in more cases.

  5. 5)

The renal disturbance was rapidly improved by Trasylol in cases of acute pancreatitis showing marked renal disturbance.

  6. 6)

Side effect of Trasylol was not observed irrespective of its doses.
