Proceedings of the 12th Autumnal Meeting Oct. 1970—Kanazawa Part I Discussion: operative indication in cholelithiasis

According to the investigations of the autopsy incidence of gallstones, the follow up study of the silent gallstone and the correlation of the prognosis of the gallstones with the cholecystograms, prophylactic cholecystectomy for the silent gallstone should not be urged until the symptoms occurs.

But, regardless the symptoms, the negative, shriveled and deformed cholecystograms should be considered as surgical indication because of the higher possibility of the gallbladder carcinoma (7–8%) and the progress of the diseases.
