Behavior of the spin-flip amplitude in high-energy proton-proton and pion-proton elastic scatterings

Summary

Data from recent experiments designed to study high-energy elastic πp and pp cross-sections and polarizations have been analyzed to extract information on the behaviour of the spin-flip amplitudes at smallt. It is found that the reduced spin-flip amplitudes are, to a large degree, independent of the particular elastic interaction at smallt, and have a magnitude comparable to the nonflip amplitudes ast→0.

Резюме

Проводится анализ данных, полученных в недавних зкспериментах' посвященных исследованию упругих πp и pp поперечных сечений при высоких энергиях, для получения информации о поведении амплитуды с переворачиванием спина при малыхt. Обнаружено, что приведенные амплитуды, в обльшей степени, не зависят от упругого взаимодействия при малыхt и сопоставимы по величине с амплитудами без переворачивания спина приt→0.

Riassunto

I recenti dati di sezione d'urto e polarizzazione per pione-protone e protone-protone ad alta energia sono usati per studiare il comportamento delle ampiezze di spin-flip a piccolit. Si trova che le ampiezze di spin-flip ridotte dal loro zero cinematico in avanti sono, a piccolit, essenzialmente indipendenti dalla particolare interazione elastica considerata e sono confrontabili con le ampiezze di spin-non-flip at=0.
