Effect of alloying on the electric conductivity of periclase

Abstract

Electrotechnical periclase has been alloyed with elements of the first group of the Periodic System in annealing at 1523 K. The effect of the alloying additives on the electric conductivity of periclase in a range of 873–1273 K is described. Alloying with 0.03–0.1% lithium is shown to reduce the electric conductivity of periclase by a factor of 2–3.
