Ce2S3—GeS2 phase diagram

Abstract

The Ce2S3-GeS2 phase diagram was studied by differential thermal analysis, x-ray diffraction, and microstructural analysis. The compounds Ce4GeS8, Ce2GeS5, and Ce2Ge2S7 were identified, and their stability limits were determined. Ce4GeS8 melts congruently at 1235°C and has a hexagonal structure witha = 10.22 A andc = 5.82 A. Ce2GeS5 and Ce2Ge2S7 melt congruently at 1140 and 995°C, respectively
