Abstract
A three-dimensional diffusional model is used to describe sintering of powder compacts composed of monosized corundum particles. The sintering process is thought of as consisting of four stages. The duration of each stage and the corresponding shrinkage and porosity are evaluated. The results agree reasonably well with experimental data on the sintering of corundum ceramics.
