Summary
We apply the PCAC condition to the Dalitz-pair process and compare its consequences with the ordinary phenomenological Lagrangian method, and Adler’s perturbation method in which the triangular diagram is essential for the π0γγ vertex. Next the Primakoff effect in the photoproduction of the axial-vector meson A 01 on proton is calculated explicitly. We estimate the coupling strength of the A 01 γγ vertex from the hyperfine splitting in the hydrogen atom, but it turns out to be an order of magnitude smaller than the value determined from the π0γγ vertex indirectly through PCAC.
