Summary
A case of congenital ichthyosis is reported with typical clinical features of parchment-like skin, ectropion of both upper eyelids, open mouth, scanty eyelashes and difficulty in extension of limbs. This was followed in a few days by extensive desquamation and appearance of normal, soft, pinkish skin beneath, subsidence of ectropion, mobility of the mouth and improvement in general condition of the child. The infant developed bronchopneumonia on the 10th day and died on the 11th day of life. The relevant literature is briefly reviewed.
