A simple method for measuring the probability of three-quantum annihilation

Summary

A method is described which allows the measurement of the probability of three-quantum annihilation in a material, after comparison with another material in which positronium formation does not take place. No coincidence measurements are needed, as only the intensities of annihilation γ-lines (0.51 MeV) in both materials are compared.

Riassunto

Viene descritto un prooedimento di misura della probabilità di annichilazione in tre quanti in un materiale mediante confronte con un altro materiale in oui non abbia luogo la formazione di positronio. Non si richiede 1’uso di apparecchiature di coincidenza in quanto si confrontano semplicemente le intensità delle righe di annichilazione (0.51 MeV) per entrambi i materiali.
