Summary
The effect of noise with a positive correlation time on the phase transition to optical bistability is studied using both analytical and numerical methods. Considering the dispersive case as well as the purely absorptive one, it is shown that increasing the correlation time in the noise can induce the phase transition to optical bistability. This is a new mechanism, different than the one found for white noise.
