Wie sieht die Schuljugend den Wald?

Zusammenfassung

Anläßlich der 1980 durchgeführten Waldjugendspiele wurde erstmals versucht, mit Hilfe einer Diskussionsaufgabe Näheres über das Verhältnis der Schuljugend zum Wald und seinen guten Gaben in Erfahrung zu bringen. An der Erledigung beteiligten sich 207 Grundschulen, 148 Hauptschulen, 26 Realschulen und 38 Gymnasien mit 12 200 Jugendlichen.

Ein Jahr später ermöglichte eine neue Spielfrage nochmals die spezielle Behandlung des Themas «Gute Gaben des Waldes». Mit ihr befaßten sich 376 Teams (Teilkollektive) aus 180 Grundschulen, 131 Hauptschulen, 30 Realschulen und 35 Gymnasien, wobei die Antworten für fast 10 200 Schüler repräsentativ sein dürften.

Über alle Schularten betrachtet lautet das Ergebnis, daß besonders in Ostbayern, aber auch in Oberösterreich, das Holz in hohem Ansehen steht. Dennoch sollten namentlich bei Unterrichtsgängen (und hier vor allem bei Betreuung von Gymnasial- und Realschulklassen) die umweltfreundlichen, «ökonomischen» Schätze des Waldes entsprechend stark herausgestellt werden.

During the 1980 forest youth festivals, using a discussion exercise, it was for the first time attempted to learn particulars about the attitude of school-aged youth towards the forest and its benefits.

Participating were 207 elementary schools offering grade 1 through 4, 148 grade 5 through 9, 26 non-classical secondary schools, and 38 classical secondary schools with 12 200 youths.

One year later, a new contest question made it possible to deal with the theme «Benefits of the forest» specifically once more. this time 376 teams from 180 elementary schools offering grade 1 through 4, 131 grade 5 through 9, 30 non-classical secondary schools, and 35 classical secondary schools participated; what has been learned is probably representative for 10 200, students.

Looking at all types of schools together, it may be said that especially in eastern Bavaria, but also in upper Austria, wood is in high standing. Nevertheless, the «economical» treasures of the forest whose harvesting is doing no harm to the environment should be emphasized in the curricula, especially when classes of secondary schools are being looked after.
