Strange particles and degenerate vacuum

Summary

In the nonlinear spinor theory of Heisenberg and co-workers use is made of a ground state degenerate with respect to isospin. This should imply: 1) due to a somewhat generalized Goldstone theorem the existence of zero-mass bosons connected with this broken symmetry, the photons; 2) the construction of strange particles. This last point is examined in a simple model connected with ferromagnetism. It is shown that there exist Goldstone bosons and bound states of particles which behave as if a spin (isospin) of the ground state is attached to a particle, thereby forming a «strange» particle.
