A study of the139La(n, n′γ)139La reaction

Summary

The results of a measurement of the139La(n, n′γ)139La reaction are presented for incident-neutron energies ranging from 1.3 MeV to 2.7 MeV. The levels and the decay scheme of the139La nucleus were determined. Spin and parity assignments are proposed on the basis of extensive comparisons of measured excitation functions with predictions of the statistical theory of the compound nucleus. Our results are compared with those reported in the literature.

Реэюме

В работе приводятся реэультаты иэмерений реакции139La(n, n′γ)139La при знергиях падаюших нейтронов в области от 1.3 МзВ до 2.7 МзВ. Определяются уровни и схемы распадов ядра139Lа. На основе сравнений иэмеренных функций воэбуждения и предскаэаний статистической теории составного ядра предполагаются эначения спинов и четностей уровней. Полученные реэультаты сравниваются с литературными данными.

Riassunto

Si presentano i risultati di uno studio della reazione139La(n, n′γ)139La per energie di neutroni incidenti comprese fra 1.3 e 2.7 MeV. Dall’analisi degli spettri γ si è potuto ricostruine un dettagliato schema di decadimento, determinando 21 livelli energetici e 35 raggi γ fino ad un’energia di eccitazione di 2159 KeV. Si sono dedotti gli spin dei livelli confrontando le funzioni d’eccitazione sperimentali dei raggi γ con le previsioni teoriche basate sulla teoria statistica del nucleo composto.
