Tests for angular momentum nonconservation in weak interactions of hadrons

Summary

Certain tests for possible angular momentum nonconservation in theweak interactions of strange particles are analysed for feasibility. Available evidence from:a) correlation between the Λ-Σ0 polarizations in the process Σ0 → Λ+γ, andb) \(\bar p\)p annihilation at rest into neutral kaons, does not indicate angular momentum nonconservation. Further evidence should be obtainable from:a) line shapes of X-rays from K-mesic atoms,b) regeneration ofKs from K L (or its absence) due to magnetic fields, andc) γ-rays from excited hypernuclei.

Аналиэируется проверка воэможного несохранения момента в слабых вэаимодействиях странных частиц. Имеюшиеся зкспериментальные данные иэa) корреляции между Λ-Σ0 поляриэациями в процессе Σ0 → Λ+γ,b) AAAp аннигиляции в нокое в нейтральные каоны не укаэывают на несохранение момента. Дальнейщие подтверждения должны быть получены иэa) форм линий рентгеновских лучей иэ К-меэонных атомов;b) регенерации K S иэ K L (или иэ ее отсутствия), обусловленной магнитными полями, иc) γ-лучей иэ воэбужденных гиперядер.

Riassunto

Si esamina se è possibile eseguire alcune verifiche della possibile non conservazione del momento angolare nelle interazionideboli delle particelle strane. Le testimonianze datecia) dalla correlazione fra le polarizzazioni Λ-Σ0 nel processo Σ0 → Λ+γ,b) dall’annichilazione AAAp in quiete in kaoni neutri, non danno indizi della non conservazione del momento angolare. Si potrebbero ottenere ulteriori testimonianzea) della forma delle linee dei raggi X emessi dagli atomi K-mesici,b) dalla rigenerazione delKS dal K L (o la sua assenza) dovuta a campi magnetici ec) dai raggi γ emessi dagli ipernuclei eccitati.
