Inelastic photoproduction of φ-meson and gluon content in the proton

Summary

The inelastic photoproduction of the φ-meson is calculated for different gluon distributions. The result shows that the cross-section is quite sensitive to the small-x behaviour of the gluon distribution functions. The inelastic cross-section for φ production at relatively low photon energies can be the same order of magnitude as that for J/φ production at much higher energies.
