Separation of the rotational degrees of freedom from theN-Particle schrödinger equation

Summary

By introducing the interparticle distances together with Eulerian angles and the barycentric co-ordinates into theN-particle Hamiltonian a separation of the rotational motion to zeroth order in the vibrational amplitudes is obtained in the particular case when the particles possess relative equilibrium positions. We derive an expression for the first order coupling term and the Hamiltonian for the quantal rigid body.

Riassunto

Introducendo la distanza fra le particelle assieme agli angoli di Eulero e le coordinate baricentriche nell’hamiltoniano diN particelle, si ottiene una separazione del moto rotatorio fino all’ordine zero nelle ampiezze di vibrazione, nel caso particolare in cui le particelle hanno posizioni di equilibrio relativo. Si deduce un’espressione per il termine di accoppiamento del primo ordine e l’hamiltoniano per il corpo rigido quantistico.
