Summary
The process p+p→Λ0+K++p is investigated by means of two simple models in which only the contribution of poles due to the exchange of an intermediate π0-meson or K+-meson respectively is taken into account. The total cross section is then calculated in terms of the total cross-sections for simpler processes. Numerical values are given for an energy of 3 GeV of the incident proton in the l.s.

Berley andCollins’ value is σtot=(0.04±0.06) mb (including also Σ0 and Σ+ production);Baumel and coll. have measured the differential cross-section at a certain energy and angle of the final K+, and derived the total cross-section by multiplying by statistical factors (assuming a constant interaction matrix element). They get σtot=0.21 mb.
