Propagation of magnetic flux on a long Josephson tunnel junction

Summary

It is shown that « wave of permanent profile » solutions for the propagation of magnetic flux on a lossless, one-dimensional Josephson tunnel junction exist only for pulses which contain a single flux quantum. Quasi-linear equations are developed for the envelope of a pulse which contains many flux quanta. The Baecklund transformation is used to obtain an analytic expression for a pulse with two flux quanta and to derive additional conservation laws for pulses with many flux quanta.

Выводятся кваэилинейные уравнения для пакета импульсов, который содержит много квантов. Испольэуется представление Бзклунда, чтобы получить аналитическое выражение для импульса с двумя квантами в потоке и чтобы вывести дополнительные эаконы сохранения для импульсов с многими квантами в потоке.

Riassunto

Si dimostra che, per la propagazione del flusso magnetico in una giunzione tunnel di Josephson unidimensionale e senza perdite, esistono soluzioni d’« onda di profilo permanente » solo per impulsi che contengono un singolo quanto di flusso. Si sviluppano equazioni quasi lineari per l’inviluppo di un impulso che contiene molti quanti di flusso. Si usa la trasformazione di Baecklund per ottenere un’espressione analitica per un impulso con due quanti di flusso e per ricavare ulteriori leggi di conservazione per impulsi con molti quanti di flusso.
