Summary
Extensive air showers of energy > 2.1015eV were detected by either Čerenkov night-sky light receivers or by a small array of liquid scintillators. Coincident radio pulses were observed at 200 MHz, the results apparently suggesting an incoherent emission mechanism; only slight evidence was obtained for any corresponding 3000 MHz emission. The results are discussed in terms of possible mechanisms for production by showers of radiation at these frequencies.

It has been pointed out byH. R. Allan andJ. R. Prescott, in private conversation, that the interpretation of the observed pulse height spectra is complicated by the fact that the showers fall at unknown distances and orientations with respect to the antenna and trigger device, so that the present interpretation is probably oversimplified.
