Abstract
The application of engineering geology, including ground-water development, at present in Indonesia is discussed. Distinction is made between regional engineering geology, urban geology, and engineering geology for specific purposes. Besides the Geological Survey of Indonesia, which is under the Ministry of Mines, three agencies under the Ministry of Public Works and Power are concerned with engineering geological investigations, namely the Institute of Hydraulic Engineering, the Institute of Soils and Road Research, and the Institute for Power Research. Engineering geology is taught at Indonesian universities as an auxiliary subject at post-candidate level.
