Abstract
The Alb tunnel crosses, for a distance of approximatively 9 km, horizontally layered clayey sediments of jurassic age; the jointing is scarce, so it can be neglected in problems of rock mechanics. Thus very costly full-scale tests can be replaced by laboratory tests and, to a certain extent, by in-situ tests.
